Salans has one of the country's leading IP teams under renowned trade mark expert Denis Voevodin and telecommunication and IT specialist Victor Naumov. The pair has been active drafting federal legislation related to IP, innovation and technologies, and developments in the IT sector and technology parks. Naumov is a member of the Expert Council on Legal Regulation and Protection of Intellectual Property of the Committee for Economic Policy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism of the State Duma. The firm has also been developing a patent contentious practice for the past two years. In highlight cases of 2010 Voevodin successfully represented BP in its first-ever Russian trade dress litigation matter and successfully defended BMW in utility model patent litigation. In one of the market's top cases, Voevodin won a major parallel import case for Evian. Naumov acted for equally big clients and one large state corporation. With managing partner Mikhail Ivanov he successfully defended social networking site VKontakte, absolving it from liabilities regarding copyrighted video content uploaded by users.
