Editorial coverage

Sweden

Mannheimer Swartling is one of the country's leading commercial firms. In 2010 its IP team, led by partners Stefan Widmark, Per Josefson and Niklas Sjöblom, recruited four new associates including Rickard Colliander, a former in-house counsel of Saab. The firm's main strength is in copyright and media work, but it also has some of the strongest individuals in trade marks and patents.

In 2010, Widmark advised four major cable TV operators – Com Hem, Canal Digital, Tele 2 and TeliaSonera – against collecting society Copyswede regarding copyright fees for the distribution of public service TV channels through cable networks, with implications for the future handling of copyright fees. Niklas Sjöblom advised Ford on the IP aspects of the sale of Volvo Car Corporation to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group in China, and Per Josefson acted for LEO Pharma against Sandoz in patent litigation relating to one of LEO's blockbuster drugs.
