In March this year, the Law Office of Isla del Campo and Tsuru Morales & Tsuru Abogados merged to form Tsuru Morales Isla Abogados (TMI Abogados) (TMI Abogados). Though a relatively new firm, TMI Abogados brings a unique hi-tech spin to the practise of IP law. Founding partner of Tsuru Morales & Tsuru Abogados, Kiyoshi Tsuru, is widely acknowledged in IP circles as unparalleled in his knowledge of emerging technology. He has also developed a strong reputation in copyright, particularly in relation to computer software. "His firm is small but he's a brilliant lawyer," said one competitor. "He's very up-to-date in all IP matters and he has formed a good team for copyright." Another peer described him as "very well-trained in new technology".

Lead attorney Gloria Isla handles trade marks, patents, internet domains and authors' rights, while Tsuru focuses on patent litigation, trade secrets, licensing, trade marks and domain names. TMI Abogados also specialises in alternative dispute resolution, and recently introduced a new practice in life sciences and nanotechnology, led by partner and biotech expert Christian Lopez. The biotech practice has given legal opinions about the Mexican legal framework on biosafety at the request of intergovernmental organisations. The firm has done pro-bono work for non-profits including the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), the Teleton, which raises money for disabled children, and the Angel Ventures organisation, which helps budding entrepreneurs.
