Gilat Bareket & Co is the litigation arm of the Reinhold Cohn Group. The firm is one of the biggest in the country and handled a long list of cases through 2010 in a range of fields, especially in pharmaceutical, electronics and medical devices. Among its top caseloads of 2010, senior partner David Gilat continued to advise Israel Aerospace Industries, the largest company in Israel, on all IP matters, pre and post-grant oppositions pending at the Israeli Patents Office and disputes relating to infringement of its patents. Senior partner Eran Bareket advised Bezeq International, 013 Netvision and 012 Smile in one of the most important recent patent infringement cases, in which the three companies were accused of infringing a patent relating to pre-paid telephony systems. The companies faced claims for damages from a Canadian company; the courts found in favour of the three clients. In a third case, Gilat and partner Asa Kling represented Dutch company DSM in patent and trade mark cases related to the protection of its UHMWPE fibre and related products under the trade mark Dyneema. The firm handled a number of cross-border cases and acted for clients such as Pharma-Israel, Orbotech, Israel Bio-Engineering Project and the Stryker Corporation. The firm has an especially good reputation for trade mark, anti-counterfeiting and Customs work.
