Based in Dublin, the firm incorporates Dockrell Farrell Solicitors, which was established in 1977, and P McGovern & Co Solicitors, established in 2006. The firm advises on a range of domestic and multi-jurisdictional IP matters including those relating to design law, counterfeiting, data protection, media and entertainment as well as IT.
The firm has continued its working relationship with key clients such as Coca-Cola and IKEA as well as working with a range of others. Over the past year the firm has been active in advising IKEA on a range of infringement matters in Ireland following a number of entities using its trade marks without its consent. Most cases have been resolved after the client issued proceedings seeking interlocutory injunctions. In April 2010, the firm worked on a case involving allegations by its client of infringement by the defendants of one of the clients' patents for a pumped electric shower. The case also involved a counterclaim by the defendants for invalidity.
