As one of Venezuela's oldest and largest general practice law firms, Hoet Peláez Castillo & Duque has a strong tradition in intellectual property. The firm's origins trace back to the 1942 founding of an office dedicated to IP matters. Despite widening its focus, the firm retains a reputation as one of the country's leaders in the IP market and continues to occupy Tier one across all disciplines.

The firm equally represents both foreign and Venezuelan clients. Partner Fernando Peláez-Pier served as the president of the International Bar Association for the 2009-2010 term. Managing partner Franklin Hoet-Linares is a mediator at WIPO's Center for Mediation, the president co-founder of the Alternative Dispute Resolution and honorary president of the World Jurists Association.

The firm has obtained the 9001:2000 certification from the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), which further testifies to its high standard of customer care.
