Dehns had another fruitful year, leveraging its experience in EPO appeal proceedings for client Virgin Atlantic Airways in its appeal regarding a patent to the herringbone seat arrangement used in the airline's business class cabins. It also helped client Strix in a Chinese patent infringement suit, resulting in record damages. Attorney Clare Stoneman receives a stellar review from a trade mark client: "I find Clare to be very professional and knowledgeable of the aspects of prosecution of a Community trade mark application, particularly knowing and advising what will draw a rejection of the trade mark application and then the best way to overcome such rejection. She has also been very effective at resolving conflict that arises over third-party trade mark rights." In addition to a client roster of household names such as HSBC, Honda and Disney, the firm won new business from Sana Pharma, Wrigley and TomTom this year. One peer praised chemical patents partner Annabel Beacham as "a very clever lady", whereas another said choosing Dehns is a "safe bet". In a late-2010 hearing, Christopher Davies and James Hull battled for Spectrum Brands in an opposition against a European lithium battery patent owned by Eveready. On the value front, one client says: "I find the fee charges by Dehns for its trade mark services to be very reasonable."
