With over 65 years in business, De Sola Pate & Brown is a respected presence in Caracas and has an international presence. With origins dating back to 1944, the firm has built a reputation as a general practice firm with a strong focus on intellectual property – half its lawyers specialise in that area. Most of its clients are multinational companies, international financial institutions and other foreign entities based in the US, Europe, Asia and other Latin America. Among the brands it represents are big names such as Johnson & Johnson, Apple, Deutsche Telecom, Levi Strauss and eBay.

Members are active in various local and international legal and civic associations, with some holding leadership positions. The IP group is led by partners Richard Brown and Irene De Sola. Brown, a trade mark specialist, is a former member of the Board of Directors of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and was the founder and past president of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Venezuelan-American Chamber. De Sola was Adjunct Judge of the Tenth Civil and Mercantile Court of Caracas and is a former president of the Venezuelan Association of Industrial Property Agents (COVAPI).
