Destek Patent is Turkey's largest firm in terms of branches around the country. The firm has offices in Ankara, Bursa, Izmir, Konya and Gaziantep as well as two offices in Istanbul. Founded in 1983, the firm provides a range of IP services including litigation and licensing for both Turkish and overseas clients. The firm's 26 attorneys and 135 professional and support staff support its handling of large portfolios. Destek is the founder of the International Patent Association. Aiming to create and increase awareness of IP in Turkey, the organisation holds free educational seminars as well as publishing and distributing Patent Dunyasi, a sector journal. In the second half of 2009, the firm represented Cartoon Network in connection with oppositions and legal actions against Ben 10 trade mark applications and registrations – 80% of the applications have been cancelled so far. A further example of the firm's activity includes advising Japan Tobacco International in 2010. The case involved representing the client in defending its brands, including Camel, Salem and Night, against similar applications such as Camelot, Selam and More Than Night.
