Fenix Legal positions itself as the leading firm for trade marks and trade marks on the internet. The firm expanded considerably in 2010, opening an office in Gothenburg (the third office in Sweden), recruiting a new CEO in Maria Zamkova from Valea, and hiring patent associates Peter Winblad from Albihns and Stefan Lennefors from Zacco.
The hires mark a move into the patent market, and in 2010 the firm advised Svensk Mjölk, Google and the Swedish Patent Office on patent matters, and supported TeliaSonera, Voith and Clix Steel Profile with patent prosecution. Winblad and Rindforth also advised 3nine, a producer of clean air using new technology, to successfully overcome patent infringement claims. One patent client says: "We are very satisfied with the way they dealt with the disputes and we have transferred our whole patent portfolio to Fenix; they have continued to deliver an excellent service in our trade mark creation and protection."
"It is unique in its full IP-service. It comes with its own ideas on how to protect and develop our patents and trade marks, as well as cost questions," says another client.
On the trade mark side, the firm also added new client Anticimex and has started winning mandates for contentious work, most notably from French company Pommery and Austrian company Travel Europe Reiseveranstaltungs. Rindforth drafted a proposal for a new Fast Track Dispute Resolution Policy for Swedish domain names, which aims to make it easier for trade mark owners to stop an infringing domain name in cases where the holder does not reply.
