Abril Abogados

Editorial coverage

Spain

Abril Abogados is managed by Ignacio Temiño. The firm has recently made significant strides in its patent department with the hire in 2010 of senior patent attorney and biology specialist Eva Serrano from rival firm Clarke Modet & Co. Serrano now heads the life sciences group. She follows the 2009 recruitment of Jesus Sahuquillo, who heads the patent department, from the same rival firm. Abril is primed to grow on the patent side and was recently chosen by Genome España as one of its panel of advisers.

The firm has a very solid practice across trade mark and copyright. In recent cases Temiño led a team to advise the publishing empire of Hearst Corporation in trade mark and copyright litigation against a website sharing protected material. In 2011 Enrique Peloche was mandated by Spain's first cable provider and second IT company in trade mark litigation against Canal Ocio. On the pure prosecution side the firm manages portfolios for a number of clients, among them Daimler, for which the firm validates all European patents in Spain. Other recent clients include Madrid City Hall and Camper.
