"It has some big clients," comments a peer of YS Chang & Associates. These include Sony, Shiseido, Starbucks, Papa John's, National Geographic, GlaxoSmithKline and Sega. Also popular among Japanese clients, the group has worked for such names as Mitsumi Electric Co and Kissei Pharmaceutical.
Managing partner Bongsig Song led the team in several notable matters this past year. The team successfully represents Joeuntechnics, a manufacturer of machine systems for stages, in litigation against an opponent's patent for a sound system panel and operation as well as acting for Malossi, an Italian manufacturer of tuning parts, in a trade mark invalidation trial.
The team further advised US company Wyse Technology in having its trade mark granted at the KIPT. This reversed KIPO's decision to reject the mark. "I'm 100% satisfied, as always," says a client in the pharma industry who looks to the firm on patent filings and invalidations. The client is satisfied with the outfit's "timely action and various alternative IP strategies" and adds: "I've been working with Jong Hyeok Park, who is proficient in his field and can speak multiple languages." Patent specialist Park leads the firm's biotech and pharma team.
