Durand Abogados maintains its position as a respected presence in the Peruvian IP market. In particular, the firm is known for its expertise in copyright and the entertainment business – senior partner Juan Durand Grahammer spent 10 years in the music industry before becoming an attorney. Clients include Universal Music, clothing retailer Next, Hunter Boot Limited and Vale Do Rio Doce, the second largest mining corporation in the world. In recent years, the firm has been growing its business as a result of substantial investments in travel and marketing. Peers hold Durand in high regard; one competitor noted: "He's a good lawyer – he's very competent."

In March 2010, the firm successfully represented Universal Music in a landmark infringement case against the parallel importation of CDs and DVDs. The accused parties included some of the most important distributors and retailers of music in Peru. The action was the first to challenge retailers over the unauthorised distribution of music in Peru and Universal was the first major record company to successfully act against parallel imports. As a result, the import of CDs that are only licensed for distribution in other countries cannot be re-sold in Peru and the music industry can fight cheap imports coming from economies with lower taxes, subsidies or general prices.
