Editorial coverage

Netherlands - Benelux

Brinkhof is an IP boutique with experience across all fields and sectors. Widely acknowledged as one of the Netherlands' leading litigation and copyright practices, the firm moves up in the ranking for contentious trade mark work. The market deems its individuals "fine IP lawyers".

On the trade mark side, Jan Brinkhof and Daan de Lange defended C&A in a dispute with addias, which filed a claim based on the three-stripe trade mark arguing that C&A's two-stripe decoration was similar. The case was brought before the Court of Justice of the EU. Furthermore, in a patent case, Brinkhof managed to have a key Philips patent in the Senseo coffee machine revoked. The firm represented the satellite navigation company TomTom in a design and copyright dispute with US competitor Garmin. The case was based on TomTom's European Community design rights in its product Go.
