Fukami Patent Office recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and has experienced some important changes, including Toshio Morita replacing Hisao Fukami as president. In addition, the team welcomed several new patent attorneys in its chemistry and biotechnology group, allowing the firm to further expand its practice in prosecuting pharmaceutical-related patents. "It has many people who have a wealth of experience and accurate knowledge, with management dedicated to educating young members in the firm," says one client in the electronics industry.
This year, Fukami Patent Office received over 500 new cases transferred over from competitors, largely in areas that focus on computer and semiconductor technology. In particular, the team assisted Oracle in its recent consolidation of its IP portfolio in the country. Toyota is also one of the firm's major clients and the firm has numerous patents pending for this client at the JPO. Other notable clients include Nintendo, Konica Minolta, Mitsubishi Electric and Google. "We would characterise the firm's service and advice as first class," concludes an approving client.
