Editorial coverage

Società Italiana Brevetti has five offices across Italy focused entirely on prosecution and works closely with its sister company and contentious practice Studio Legale SIB. In 2010 it expanded by two associates and saw increases in national and European filings and CTMs, as well as a big 44% rise in trade mark filings abroad. Managing partner Fabrizio de Benedetti is a member of the Government Committee in charge of revising and supplementing the Italian IP Code, while partner Silvano Adorno is a member of the executive committee of the AIPPI Italian group.

In 2010, partner Elisabetta Papa led a team that successfully advised Dainese in a patent opposition case before the EPO; de Benedetti also advised the Ministry of Economic Development and State Legal Advisory Service on aspects of the L'Oréal v eBay case before the Court of Justice of the EU; and, in a third example of recent work, Elisabetta D'Amore assisted Bottega Veneta in pushing through a trade mark application.
