Dr Shlomo Cohen & Co is best known for its litigation work, especially under senior partner Dr Shlomo Cohen and the active head of litigation Liad Whatstein. The firm also handles IP portfolios for some large companies and grew in 2010 with the hire of six associates. On the patent side, Whatstein and Amira Mangelus advised Merck & Co in opposition proceedings against Teva on its drug sitagliptin. Whatstein, Shay Israel and Amira Mangelus also won substantial claims for the State of Israel from Omrix Biopharmaceuticals with respect to the misappropriation by Omrix of technology developed by a government scientist. It was the biggest IP case handled by the government to date. In trade mark and copyright the firm was retained by L'Oréal to advise on an anti-counterfeiting campaign and Shlomo Cohen represented ELLE Magazine publisher Hachette in a preliminary injunction against a local publisher launching a fashion magazine titled BELLE.
