Although the Ritz mark had never been used on its own by the hotels and the sauna clubs only used the name Rits, the court ruled that Rits and Ritz are similar enough to cause confusion among the public and it infringes the Ritz trade mark. On the enforcement side, Columbia Sportswear turned to the duo to shut down numerous black-market factories, storage facilities and warehouses in China to fight infringement problems in the country.
