Sydney-based Halfords IP keeps up a steady volume of trade mark applications and filings and has worked hard to build its trade marks department following a merger between Halford & Co and Macken IP in July 2009. The team of eight, including three partners, is "low key" and adept at patent drafting, according to one competitor, who mentions Geoff Davidson as at the helm of the group.
While some peers note they have seen less of the firm in patent prosecution, one market commentator acknowledges the team stays afloat working for "a couple of good clients". The firm's clientele, which is about 70% domestic, includes ResMed, one of the country's leading medical device companies, Energizer/Schick, Motorola and Electrolux.
