Founded in 1987, Jalife Caballero y Asociados is a full-service IP firm, which in a relatively short period has become a recognised leader in copyright. Its team of 25 IP professionals has represented well-known multinationals such as Sony Pictures Entertainment, Columbia Pictures, Danone and Kellogg's.
The firm occupies Tier one in the copyright category for the third consecutive year. Virtually all competitors agree that the ranking is well-deserved and refer to José Luis Caballero as "the best copyright lawyer in Mexico".
Since 2002, Caballero has served as an expert legal adviser and lecturer at UNESCO's Centro Regional para el Fomento del Libro en América Latina y el Caribe (CERLALC), a multi-government organisation aimed at helping South American and Caribbean governments adopt policies and programmes for the promotion of books and copyright.
The firm's other partner, Mauricio Jalife, has been appointed by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) official arbitrator and has held teaching positions at several universities in Mexico. He has also been invited by Georgetown University to serve as visiting professor.
