Established in 1905, Uhthoff Gomez Vega & Uhthoff has a long history as a world class IP boutique. The practice received generous praise across the board, both for the skill of its partners and their professional conduct. "They are very experienced in almost all areas and the partners are really ethical people," said one competitor. Another rival said: "Uhthoff is a well-recognised firm. I know most of the partners and they're scholars. I believe they have a high level of professionalism and ethics in their activities."
The firm is now run by the fourth generation of partners and has offices in Mexico City and Guadalajara. It provides services to prominent companies such as 3M, Roche, Lacoste and brewery Cervecería Modelo, which makes Corona beer. "They are very well-known, not only with the clients but also with the authorities," said one peer. Uhthoff has structured itself to avoid generation gaps by setting up a mentoring scheme between senior and junior partners. In 2009 and 2010, it received Managing Intellectual Property's Firm of the Year award in the trade mark category for Mexico.
