Reimann Osterrieth Köhler Haft is among Germany's successful boutique firms and has been active representing a range of clients over the past 12 months. "They are well organised and structured, I consider them the strongest of boutiques," says one peer, adding: "Thomas Reimann is senior partner with a big reputation, he is very well known." Klaus Haft is also recognised as being a leading figure with expertise in electronics. The firm is described as one that has been capable of rapid growth in a short space of time, while its lawyers are praised for having a strong understanding of IP matters. One peer says: "When you litigate against them they have solid overall view. They are reasonable in their demands and are well founded." The firm has been involved in high-profile patent litigation defending Deutsche Telekom against IPCom before various regional courts and the Court of Appeals in Karlsruhe. The Karlsruhe court is home to a number of pending infringement cases regarding standard-essential patents of GSM and UMTS. Work was handled by Kay Kasper, Tobias Hahn and Mirko Weinert, who have also been involved in parallel proceedings against other telecommunication equipment manufacturers. Other work involves representing AGA in infringement litigation against Occlutech in relation to medical devices. Both first and second instance proceedings on the original product were concluded in favour of the patent owner. The patent was also upheld in nullity proceedings in first instance. There are parallel proceedings pending in the UK, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain.
