With 192 patent attorneys, 40 trade mark attorneys and 52 lawyers on its team, China Patent Agent (HK) is one of the largest and oldest state-owned IP firms in China. Practitioners and clients commended the firm's reputation and reliability. The firm has offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
This year, Tina Tai was promoted to deputy general manager in the firm. Clients speak highly of the firm's competency in all IP areas, and many remain loyal due to its consistent performance. Several clients highlight in particular the team's ability when dealing with patent or trade mark invalidation matters. One client said: "Besides the firm's quality and professionalism, another thing is the dedication to its work. The attorneys are willing to work irrespective of weekends to make sure deadlines are met." Johnson Li is highly regarded when it comes to representing clients with their patent issues.
The firm represented GCCL, the Chinese subsidiary of Brugg Group, against a patent infringer that produced and sold one of its flagship products. The case appeared before the Sichuan Higher Court, which reversed the first instance decision ruling that there was no infringement. Li successfully argued that the first instance judgment failed to adequately take into account the evidence presented, and it also erred by introducing irrelevant features when interpreting GCCL's patent.
