Denmark

MAQS Law Firm has a series of seven offices across Scandinavia and the Baltics and serves clients especially well on trade mark, customs and parallel import matters. In 2010, the firm merged with Nordia, a patent contentious-focused firm with pharmaceutical expertise. Jeppe Brogaard Clausen, Peter Gustav Olson and Hanne Weywardt lead the MAQS team, which in 2010 advised Gucci and Reisenthel on actions against lookalike trade marks, and New Balance Athletic Shoe against a misuse of its trade mark. The latter case won the client a large award of damages. MAQS also added McGraw-Hill group to its list of clients. "I'm very happy of the high quality of its services and overall with its concrete and experienced advice" says one client, adding: "It is very good in terms of strategic thinking and always provide us with outstanding support." One client recommends Clausen for being "very much client and results-oriented" as well as for the high quality of his advice and leadership. A foreign client adds that Clausen's good German came in handy for a case.
