The performance and experience of Hechanova Bugay & Vilchez over the past year has been very strong. Managing partner Editha Hechanova is one of the most prominent practitioners in the Philippines and acts for premium brands such as Daimler and Bausch & Lomb. In a recent border control case, Hechanova represented Luxottica, the owner of sunglasses brands including Ray-Ban and Oakley, to demand the destruction of P192 million ($4.5 million) worth of counterfeit articles. A similar enforcement action was also conducted for Sao Paulo Alpargatas, resulting in the seizure of P200 million ($4.7 million) in Havaianas-branded sandals and slippers. In addition, Hechanova was involved in the cancellation of several marks on behalf of international clients, including Vitagen for Vitasoy International and Purolite for Brotech.
