Under the leadership of "top litigator" Prathiba Singh, IP litigation firm Singh & Singh rises to the top Tier of the contentious rankings this year. Peers observe: "We always see them in the courts. The firm is without a doubt top Tier for litigation work." With a competitor noting continued growth in copyright, that is an area to look out for them in the future.

Clients highlighted the contribution of the energetic Singh: "Pratibha Singh has a good insight and understanding of the subject as well as our requirements. I would rate her knowledge and advice quite highly. She is responsive to client requirements and proactive in her approach and thinking."

The firm was involved in the pivotal copyright matter regarding its client Entertainment Network India and Phonographic Performance. Relating to the first compulsory licences for copyright issued in the country, the Copyright Board passed an order fixing 2% of the net advertising revenue of radio stations as the royalty rates payable to music owners. This case is considered important and a landmark decision because of its bearing on the entire copyright and FM radio industry. It is still under appeal.

Another notable matter was the firm's representation of ITC in its trade mark case versus Philip Morris Products. The suit was filed by the client for infringement of its well-known and registered logo used for its hospitality business and was concluded before the Delhi High Court in January 2010.
