China Sinda had another remarkable year in 2010 acting on some important contentious matters. Recognising the firm's skill and experience in helping companies obtain well-known status for their trade marks, Kenwood Corporation and Hoya Corporation recruited vice president An Xiang and her team to get well-known trade mark recognitions for their company trade marks.
Another highlight of its practice last year was defending Toshiba against charges of patent infringement filed by two Chinese individuals. Toshiba filed an invalidation request with the Patent Reexamination Board (PRB) and applied to the court to suspend the infringement case at the same time. The patent owned by the two individuals was invalidated by the PRB and the infringement claim was dropped as a result. This is a typical case as more foreign companies have been sued by Chinese entities in recent years and it shows how foreign entities can respond to these challenges and protect their own IP.
