"Drew & Napier is fantastic," says a foreign client, "The reason we outsource to the firm is because they understand how things are done on our end. When we ask a question they understand the context and rephrase the issue so that we understand culturally." The firm continues to be a leader in the IP industry, with a client praising: "The people we've worked with operate at a top-Tier level. They are very commercially minded and very practical." The IP team is headed by managing director Dedar Singh Gill, who is regarded as a leading lawyer by both fellow practitioners and clients. Former director Morris John is now a consultant with the firm, after reaching the retirement age of 60.
A highlight for the firm was its representation of Ozone Community in a trade mark matter. Led by Gill, the client's mark Hysteric Glamour was allowed after a decision of the High Court and the successful dismissal of the opponent's appeal to the Court of Appeal in May 2010.
