Kensington Swan keeps an active team of eight across two offices. The outfit enjoyed a busy year in the IP department this year, successfully defending InterPharma NZ in a pharmaceutical patent infringement suit brought by Aventis Pharma and representing Fonterra in an opposition against Pabst Brewing's application to trade mark Primo for beers. Sheana Wheeldon has been at the forefront of both matters.
"I have been very satisfied with the work by Kensington Swan and the level of resources and expertise it has in the areas I am dealing with," says a trade mark client. "It is quick to respond and always follows up diligently when I have not responded promptly to its queries."
"Sheana Wheeldon is prompt to take receipt of instructions and queries and comes back quickly with commercial solutions," says one client. "What we like about her is the commercial hat she's capable of wearing whilst being a lawyer. She goes to court as well so she brings a legislative perspective in the advice she gives us."
Wheeldon also acted for Reed Elsevier Group in a multi-jurisdictional dispute over ownership of the trade mark Reed for employment agency services and the publication of recruitment information.
Elsewhere Charlotte Henley advised Burger King on the enforcement of its Whopper brand in New Zealand against a local fast food outlet and assisted Forsyth Barr with its new branding for Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin.
