The general practice firm of Goodrich Riquelme y Asociados has earned a strong reputation in IP over its 75-year history. One peer described Goodrich as "a very large, very well-known law firm with very good relations around the world". Three years ago, the firm began an aggressive programme of expansion and has since doubled in size, despite the world economic crisis.
The firm mainly represents international companies and counts household names such as American Express, Bayer, Tyco, and Hallmark/Crayola amongst its clients. It has a professional and administrative staff of over 250. In addition to the headquarters in Mexico City, the firm has had a presence in Paris since 1971. It is growing its practice in domain names.
Senior partner Enrique Díaz was characterised by peers as a magnetic personality who runs a well-organised IP department. "I know the clients love him," said one competitor. "He's very responsible and he responds very quickly." Goodrich was one of the firms that founded the Bomchil group, an association of independent law firms with offices in almost every country in Latin America.
