After years near the top of the patent contentious rankings, Goodmans makes its first-tier debut following complimentary remarks from peers and clients. "Goodmans has some smart people," said a competitor. "It really is a dominant player in pharmaceutical litigation." An opponent noted the firm's prowess in negotiations: "They're exceptional lawyers, absolute pit bulls, and very good at what they do."

Lauded for his work representing Apotex, Harry Radomski is perhaps the most admired member of the bar. "He's definitely first tier, probably the best litigator in the country," a competitor said. "He's a great trial lawyer – head and shoulders above anybody else on your list," said another. Peers also named litigation group head Andrew Brodkin as a testament to the firm's deep bench. Former Bennett Jones partner Dino Clarizio recently joined the firm, strengthening its patent prosecution practice.

The firm's copyright group appears in the rankings for the first time due to its roster of clients in the entertainment industry. The firm handles matters for Universal Studios, CTV and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. Among a handful of litigators in the country focusing exclusively on copyright matters, partner Michael Koch was praised by peers for his work handling Tariff 22 SOCAN proceedings for Apple.
