With over 130 years in business, Estudio Olaechea is the oldest full-service law firm in Peru. The firm, which is located at the heart of Peru's main financial and business district San Isidro, has the biggest legal archive in Peru, accumulated since its foundation in 1878. The IP group is a well-established player, with clients including Honda, Clorox, Mattel and Tyco. In addition to handling all areas of intellectual property, the firm has experience in helping clients defend against consumer claims and write rules for promotional competitions.
In 2010, the firm received an award for its outstanding commitment to pro bono work from Lex Mundi's Pro Bono Foundation. Olaechea's lawyers each completed an average of 50 hours of pro bono over 2009 – more than double the 20 hours they are expected to provide as signatories to the Pro Bono Declaration of the Americas. Members have donated their time to numerous good causes including the Prince Charles Rainforest Project, the World Bank's study on the legal empowerment of the poor and Ciudad Saludable, which works to create clean cities in Peru and in Latin America.
