McCann Fitzgerald, although a large corporate firm and not an IP specialist, has a superb IP group that leads the jurisdiction on contentious trade mark work and is only matched by William Fry in patent litigation work. Indeed, the firm says that it has acted in 90% of the patent litigation disputes that have taken place in Ireland over the past 10 years.
The IP department comprises five partners and one consultant, William Earley. Litigator Roddy Bourke is highlighted, particularly for his work with pharmaceuticals clients, while Karyn Harty works on a broader range of complex commercial disputes but is picked out for her skills and knowledge. Annette Hogan adds IT and outsourcing to her practice areas, while Paul Lavery heads the firm's technology and innovation group.
